Welcome to Yayasan Suara Bhakti.
In 1982, Mr. Daniel Pearlmen, a Peace Corp volunteer from USA, working as a lecturer at IKIP Sanata Dharma (now called Sanata Dharma University), decided to assist students with limited financial means by setting up an Indonesian language school for foreigners. At first it called Realino. Intial clients included VSO and OSB (now called as AVI). This group of Sanata Dharma students, together with others from UGM, established the Yayasan Suara Bhakti or Suara Bhakti Foundation and become the founders of what is now known as the Wisma Bahasa.
In 1995, YSB started a new service when it opened an English language course for Indonesians, and then another in 1997 when it set up PeMad – International Translation which provided translation services.
Now, YSB has 5 work units:
- Wisma Bahasa BIPA (Indonesian language school/course for foreigners)
- Wisma Bahasa ED (English course)
- PeMad International Translation
- CD YSB (Community Development)
- Suara Pustaka
